Idea of the day.
Thanks to LinkedIN News Europe;
Take some time to be bored.
In today’s “always on” world, it’s important to appreciate the quieter moments in life, according to disability advocate Isaac Harvey.
“Boredom can actually be a powerful tool for creativity and productivity, and even gives our brain the much-needed time to recharge,” he argues.
Harvey describes how he found himself consumed by boredom as he tidied up his cluttered hard drive on 1 January.
“But guess what? Embracing and pushing through the boredom turned out to be incredibly rewarding,” he writes. “This seemingly dull task led me to find hidden gems … More importantly, it sparked a surge of creativity, leaving my mind overflowing with ideas.”
Have you ever come up with a great idea while struggling with boredom?
Boredom might be boring, but gives room for your mind to find those ideas hidden inside it that got lost in transit, when the crowd roared so loud, you can’t even hear your own thoughts.
Being constantly bored is a production killer though.
I tend to keep working small tasks (through the DONE list), so these tasks are cleared from the mind, making room for new tasks.
Doing that all day long make a long list of tasks completed.
Being bored when that list is DONE for that day is not called boredom; it’s called relaxation after a long day work.
